“Today is the 35th anniversary of the American Holocaust commonly known as Roe v. Wade which has been responsible for the bloodshed of approximately 50 million babies in America and there is no better time than the present for Texas to help end the slaughter of preborn human beings by asserting and defining personhood of the preborn as beginning at fertilization. Incremental pro-life strategies and abortion regulations have failed to end the murder of the preborn; success hinges on defining life and personhood as beginning at the moment of fertilization.
“As the Texas Constitution - Article 1 - Section 19 currently states: ‘No citizen of this State shall be deprived of life, liberty, property, privileges or immunities, or in any manner disfranchised, except by the due course of the law of the land.’ I propose this amendment be made to the Texas Constitution:
“No human being from the moment of fertilization until natural death shall be deprived of life, liberty, property, privileges or immunities, or in any manner disfranchised, except by the due course of the law of the land.”
“We need to provide protection for all people in Texas. Amending the Texas Constitution is achievable and desperately needed to protect those human beings conceived in less than ideal circumstances, the infirmed, the handicapped and the elderly.
“Colorado, Michigan, Montana and Georgia citizens are already working toward providing this protection in their state constitutions and Texas should be doing the same.
“Texas pro-life Republicans need to attend their Precinct Committee meetings on March 4th and submit the following resolution for the 2008 Republican Platform:
‘Right To Life - All innocent human life must be respected and safeguarded from fertilization to natural death; therefore, the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. Therefore we support amending the Texas Constitution Article 1 -Section 19 to read: "No human being from the moment of fertilization until natural death shall be deprived of life, liberty, property, privileges or immunities, or in any manner disfranchised, except by the due course of the law of the land.’” – Larry Kilgore, candidate for US Senate.
